statement "My paintings explore the mental
and physical aspects of human emotion by pushing the boundaries
of conventional portraiture.
The first series of paintings show internal chaos of the physical versus
the psychological, illustrating a picture plane of raw feelings. The
second series of pictures purely focus on physical sensations of desire
and repulsion. The last body of work depicts the unconventional beauty
of destruction. The palette is limited to several hues of red, symbolizing
lust, life, blood and death. The grouping of images shows flashes of
an apocalyptic vision, foreshadowing our eventual demise. All the paintings
loosely tie together by illustrating my awareness of the cycle of life
as a form of death and regeneration. They celebrate our fascination with
the beauty of tragedy." |
